Complaints process
You can report a specific letter quickly, or make a fuller complaint about content, moderation, privacy or the service itself.
Report content
Open the three-dot menu on a letter and choose Report this letter. For a return reply, use the report control in your private archive. Select the closest reason; the report enters the moderation queue without revealing your identity to the other person.
Make a fuller complaint
Email [email protected] with the subject Stray Note complaint. Include the date, what happened, the outcome you want, and any letter reference visible to you. Do not forward unnecessary personal data or harmful content when a reference is enough.
What happens next
- We record the complaint and check whether urgent safety action is needed.
- A reviewer who can access the relevant private records assesses the content and prior decision.
- We may uphold, change or maintain the decision and will explain the outcome we can disclose safely.
- If you disagree, reply once with the reason and ask for a second review.
We will acknowledge a complaint and give an expected timeframe. Timing depends on urgency, complexity and any legal or safeguarding steps. We do not reveal another user’s identity or private account information.
Other routes
Privacy rights requests can use the same address and should be labelled privacy request. You may also contact the regulator, court or dispute-resolution body available under the law that applies to you. Using this process does not remove those rights.
